Our community here at PVCC loves supporting missionaries and missions efforts overseas. As part of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, we have elected to be an antioch model church. In simple terms, that means that we have direct relationships with missionaries overseas. In practice, that means we make special efforts to pray for these missionaries, support them financially, send gifts on birthdays and holidays,, and visit their ministries. We have direct relationships with two C&MA Missionary Families: Don & Sarah Jones, and Bob & Cheryl Fugate. Take a minute and get to know our two missionary families.
Bob and Cheryl Fugate serve in Santiago, Chile. They have been working there for almost 20 years. Their church, the Church of the Vineyard, was a recent church plant in the upper class of Santiago. They are trying to reach the professional class in Chile. They have four children, Sarah, John, Susie & Robby. For the latest on the Fugates, check out their page at the national C&MA site.
Don and Sarah Jones are missionaries to Berlin, Germany. They work with Project Open Door and are planting healthy growing churches in East Germany. They have two children, Dane and Jenna, who live with them in Berlin. For the latest on the Jones', visit their page at the national C&MA site. or find out a little bit about their family at their personal site.
In addition to our official Alliance Missionaries, we love supporting members of our community at PVCC in their Missions efforts! Some of our friends that we lend support to are Tom Frey, serving with The Navigators at the University of Maryland, and Cindy Way, founder of the Haitian Education Mission (HEM) and leader of our efforts to minister to the poor in Haiti.
Early in our life as a community, our congregation voted unanimously to send the first $5000 raised from our building fund to Mirik, India. Pastor Rupak Shankar had been meeting with a congregation of believers in Mirik, but they had no building! Our church had the privilege of building them a meeting place with. It's amazing what a small donation can accomplish overseas.
